text: A warmer night. Marched to Gazifema (Laiyi) in the Manipur State, counting Thizama on the way. Not a long march, but the climb up from the Thezaru river, the boundary here, is very steep indeed. I started about 9.0 and got in at 1.0, the Political Agent not having yet arrived. He came with the President, Manipur State Durbar later in the afternoon.

text: Halted at Gazifema to hear cases of which there were several, and to plan our marches to the scene of the Losama-Gazifema dispute and thence to Vahong, which was not easy, as route and distance were obscure. Eventually I had to give up my projected visit to Thecholumi as we had to arrange to go direct to the junction of the Razaru and the Laniaru.
