text: To Zubza, walking to Piphima (in rain) and riding on. The surface of the road is beginning to get bumpy on the stage from Piphima to Zubza. Close to the latter place one of my dobashis shot a barking deer. No more thefts have been reported here lately, though I met several Mozema men on the road probably seeking what they might devour.
text: I met Mr. Rennick at Zubza on his way down. He told me that the Surveyor sent to Survey the Tizu valley, had got as far east as the range beyond the Tita and as far north as Kukhirr where he met with an excellent reception. I had told him he was not to cross the Tita and he had no escort but seems to have met with much respect and attention. They were expecting me with an escort, of course, as all these villages had been warned that I was coming before Yungya made me change my plans.
