text: To Khonoma with the Political Agent, Manipur. All three khels want to add to their dahus or build new ones, and consequently there are no objections by anyone against the projects of another khel. I told them to flag out what they wanted to do before I got back again. The Merhema khel want more of the fort, and can probably be given one corner on condition that they move the wall which it is probably not worth their while to do. Meanwhile they have made a new water channel which they have cut out of the side of the bridle path, without saying anything to anyone, and have closed the old water-channel that supplied the fort and the village. The other clans are annoyed and I suspect there is the making of a pretty quarrel over this but it has not yet materialized.
