Discussion on the price of rice at Nerhama |

Tour Diary for November/December 1925 |

To Nerhama. Two villages have raised the question of the price per seer of rice indented for travellers. The old rate was -/1/-. It was raised in a time of scarcity to -/1/3, then to -/1/6, and then in a year of plenty, reduced again to -/1/-, and now of course they grouse. As a matter of fact, the rate varies in different parts of the district, but I think it might be raised a little for villages on the road which frequently have to supply, though I must first find out what is being done in Mokokchung. |
