Angami buying salt; Kuki treatment of tiger and leopard skulls |
text: |
27th. Tushom Khulen. - Changing coolies at Kolhui (or Chakyang) on the way - about 14 miles altogether. Coming out of Kharasom I met Angamis of Lozaphehomi in the Naga Hills come to buy salt. The Kukis of Kolhui, whose chief Paothong was an old acquaintance of the Kuki rebellion days, have a golgotha for tigers and leopard skulls. The usual posts and stones for putting the skulls on and a head tree to move them to. They had nine altogether and a fresh leopard skin hanging up on a tree. |

At Tushom the chief of Khanjang in the Naga Hills turned up with revenue and asked me to take it to save him the trouble and expense of going into Kohima which I did. |
