Hutton and I have more or less fixed up your trip. There is a lot of ground to cover, and an American tour of England will be a funeral compared to it. As far as possible you are to see a bit of every tribe. My only grouse is that I get very little of you to myself, but that is inevitable if you are to go to the Angami gennas. So I don't grumble and looking forward enormously to the fortnight or so I shall get with you. |

About the time you get this letter a box ought to reach you containing the very simple implements used by the Rengmas to ornament the bands on their cloths. There is no set in the museum I think. My note with it is clear I think and will give you sufficient information for labels. The round things on one or two of the bands in the museum which we thought were suns are really tiger's eyes, with such charming lollipop eyelashes...Head taking is not yet a dead art. In fact I have never known so much as there has been this spring. A nice lot of work it is giving me too. The Huttons are very fit and their little daughter flourishing. He is coming out to inspect me at Mokokchung next month... |
