text: Marched about 9 o'clock from Kangupkhul. Still heavy rain, track appallingly slimy. Cloud over hill, & bitter wind on top of spur. Owing to slight hitch in Hill Office staff-work, no coolies arranged for, (35) so had to take other lot on. Reached Howchong 3p.m. after very tiring 10 mile march, ending in long sweat up steep, slippery hill. Howchong bungalow earth floored, tin- roofed, 3-roomed. Slept in afternoon. Still heavy rain. Knee very sore. Wet through to the skin.
