text: (15) Chingjaroi, March 19th. 4 miles.
text: Went down to Xtian village in morning, arriving 9.30 instead of 9.0, and visited sepsis & diarrhoea cases. One baby very bad, little hope. Held dispensary. Khullakpa asked me to stay for a week, or weeks, if possible, to cope with seasonal disorders. Visited Khunao; pneumonia case, whom I saw yesterday, infinitely better. He and his uncle came to call this morning with a hen. Issued half-bottle Vintone with compliments and instructions. Meant to go to Khulen, but took so long making up Santonin and Euquinine that we held dispensary at perao instead. Jangsang, who got to bed at midnight and was called to a case at 2a.m., has moved up in search of peace. Hope he finds it, and I too. Fleas got me out at 2a.m., and the place is alive with rats. Brought I drachm Santonin and 2 tubes Emetine for dysentery cases. Santonin all gone but 12 grains; Euquinine all but a few as emergency ration. Cinchona finished this morning. Christian village and Khunao (16) combined gave us a goat; as well as eggs.
