text: [4] 21st January, Saturday. Starting a little after sunrise I managed to reach the village of Tehamah about noon and resting there for half an hour pushed on to Samaguting which I reached about half past 5 p.m. The road crossed the Burail range a little to the east of a peak the Surveyors have marked as Ponnah and was one of the worst I have ever had the misfortune to travel on. It is difficult to calculate the distance with any certainty but I should think it can scarcely be less than 30 miles by the road we came. 22nd January, Sunday. Halted at Samaguting.
