text: 29th January, Sunday. I had the greatest difficulty in obtaining coolies this morning and I thought at one time we were in for a row however I am glad to say it passed off all right and we started all right at last though not until very late. And we consequently did not reach our camp at Kigwemah until past 4 p.m. So afraid were the Kohimahs of being attacked on the road by men of Kigwemah that they insisted upon sending some 60 or 70 young warriors with their Shields and Spears to act as escorts to the coolies.
