30th January, Monday. Hearing that Dr. Brown was encamped on the right bank of the Zullo (on that river which he identifies with the Maon) at a spot close below Kedimah we there joined him. |

31st January, Tuesday. We marched today to my old camping ground below the village of Terimimah or as the Maneepurees call it Makal Makel. Enroute we passed through the group of 5 villages termed Sopomah by the Nagas from whence I pointed to the Boundary Commissioner the several sources of the two river the Zullo and the Sijo and fully stated the grounds on which I had formed the opinions that the latter rivers was the one alluded to by Messrs. Gordon and Bigge as the Maon river and Dr. Brown having also I believe stated his view of the matter and the reasons which led him to adopt the former as the Maon and Mr. Ogle on his party having completed a map of the country I trust the Commissioner will now be able speedy to decide as to the correctness or otherwise of our respective interpretations of the Boundary line laid down in 1842. |
