2nd February, Thursday. Notwithstanding our having been delayed until after 10 a.m. this morning for want of coolies which the Muneepurees seem to have had the greatest difficulty in procuring, we managed to push on a double march right into Kigwemah, a distance of, I should say, not less than 18 miles. The greater part of the road was fortunately very fair and the coolees came on splendidly. |

3rd February, Friday. From Kigwemah we marched to Pesamah and having here succeeded in getting a chance of coolees as the Kigwemah men were afraid of being attacked on their return by the men of Kohimah we pushed on through Jotsomah into Sachemah a total distance of about 16 miles on perhaps or a little more. |

4th February, Saturday. Marched into Piphemah. It is perhaps worth noticing that we also remarked how much warm it has suddenly got and I am afraid our next two marches will be precious hot ones. |
