| text: | 4th October. Marched to Horiojan. Found the road in a terribly jungly condition beyond the Deopani and several portions of it still under water. Feeling rather feverish this evening and have taken some quinine. | 
| text: | 5th October. Marched into Dimapur. Road almost impassable on account of the fallen trees, high jungle and broken bridges. Had fever all day and turned into bed at 6 p.m. |
