text: 18th October. The Rajmisteri who has undertaken to execute the repairs to the Rest House came in this evening, but he says he cannot get any lime in Golaghat so I suppose I must burn some for myself. I stayed in to-day so as to look after the Carpenters whom I have engaged to put up a nice plank partition with wooden doors and windows instead of the nasty dirty ekra now standing.
text: 19th October. Engaged 7 coolies and took them out to the Nambor where I set them on to burn lime.
text: 20th October. Out all day with the coolies at the Deopani.
text: 21st October. Out all day with the coolies at the Deopani, one Phukon Mohurir of Golaghat arrived to-day and offered to execute earth work for me at the rate of Rs.4 per 1,000 cubic feet.
text: 22nd October, Sunday. Enjoyed a general holiday. Received a letter from Mr. Thoruton junior of Golaghat offering to take up work on the road.
text: 23rd October. Out with the coolies as usual.
text: 24th October. Rode in to Golaghat to inspect the road. Gave Mr. Thoruton a contract for earth work, etc.
text: 25th October. Returned to Borpothar. Pouring with rain the whole day.
