text: 11th December. Rode into Golaghat but only to find that Mr. Forest [sic] had already left that station en route for Gowhatty, however my visit has not been a fruitless one as it has enabled me to engage some more coolies for the work at Samaguting and I have also succeeded in persuading the Assistant Commissioner of Golaghat to accompany me along our mutual boundary. The whole of the jungle on the road between Borpathar and Golaghat has been cut and cleared and every one of the bridges put into thorough repair. The last bit into Golaghat however requires to be newly laid out for the Dhunsiri river has cut away nearly a quarter of a mile of it and it is no use doing anything to it until I have time to come down and first mark out the new line.
