29th December. Finding I was rather too far off from the village, I moved this morning to my former encamping ground on the top of the hill to the east of Paplongmai and sent off a couple of Khasies with some Naga coolies to set up a survey mark on the summit of the Paonah on Terhepu mountain. |

30th December. Having nothing particular to do today, I ascended the Paonah on Terhepu Peak (8170 feet above the sea level) and personally superintended the erection of the mark there. The climb up to the top was a precious stiff one but the view from it well repaid me. |

On returning to camp, I was delighted to find Colonel Mowbray Thomson, the Political Agent of Manipur, had just arrived having marched in today from (as far as I can make out by his description) the banks of the Kaher, a stream below Zang on Chekwemah. He is accompanied by Major Roma Sing, a gentlemanly old fellow with whom I had a long chat regarding the boundary and other matters connected with this frontier, and was sorry to find that the Rajah still appears to think he will succeed in getting a modification of the older line of boundary so as to be able to include not only Kohimah but even Khonomah and Mozamah in his jurisdictions. |
