text: 6th January. Halted and sent of one of Major Austin's men with a party of Manipuri Sepoys to erect a mark on the summit of Tellizo.
text: Strange to say, today I received a visit from Aja (the very man I attended to yesterday) who with several other Mao Chieftains came in this morning to pay their respects to me.
text: 7th January. On getting up this morning, we found that the Survey mark had not yet been erected on Tellizo and so determined to halt until it had been, and as I happened to have caught sight of Derrick Pheasant yesterday evening. Whilst taking a stroll in the neighbourhood of the village, I went out with the hope of getting some shooting, but after a long scramble which brought me out at the village of Khuzamah, I returned to camp without having fired a single shot or having seen a single thing to fire at, and I am sorry to add my ankle has again commenced to trouble me.
text: In the evening my Inspector Muna Ram came in and reported that the mark on Tellizo had been put up all right, so we propose marching into Kidimah tomorrow, that is to say if the rain holds off, which however seems doubtful. It has been threatening for the last day or two and tonight it looks more like rain than ever it did and I rather fancy we shall have a downpour ere morning.
