text: 31. The Eastern Nagas living on the borders of, and partly within, the Lakhimpur district, have continued peaceable as far as we are concerned. The Namsangia Chief has put in a claim to the land when the Railway and Trading Company are extracting coal. It believed that he has not yet abandoned this claim, but he has not pressed it. This land is clearly within British territory, which in that direction extends to the summit of the Patkoi range.
