39. Vaccination has spread a little: 363 cases were operated on, against 180 in the preceding year, but the Nagas still disbelieve in it as a prophylactic, having seen two Khonoma men, Frontier Police sepoys, die of small-pox after having been vaccinated. The benefits of the dispensary, however, excite no sceptical feelings: the out-door patients rose from 972 to 1,632, and the in-door from 109 to 115. Dor Borah's kindly and skillful treatment of the Nagas and their confidence in him, are specially mentioned by the Deputy-Commissioner, and his successful exertions deserve the thanks of Government, as they did last year. |
