On the morning of the 30th, a start was made for Bor Haimong. The road was fairly good, with many ascents and descents, and followed the ridge of the spur drained by the Tiru to the west and the Jhanzi to the eastward. The party made Deka Haimong in something under two hours, and from that point the road was comparatively easy all the way to Bura Haimong. The ascent up to the village was steep; this village and Deka Haimong are both stockaded and defended with panjies in the usual way. |

Mr. McCabe's party came in to Bor Haimong in the evening, having had a very long march from Susu on the 31st. Both parties halted at Bor Haimong to talk over Naga affairs. On the 1st February, Mr. McCabe left for Molong, leaving Captain Plowden and fifty police to proceed with Colonel Clarke. On the morning of the 2nd, coolies were supplied and the party left Bor Haimong and recrossed the Inner Line into the Sibsagar district on the 10th February. |
