On the night of the 21st March 1893 Abo Naga, a man belonging to Banfera chang, who had recently settled with his wife in the plains near Lukhurakhanagaon in mauza Abhaypur, was attacked with daos while asleep in his house and received wounds from which he subsequently died. His wife, Amo Nagini, who was with him at the time, has identified as the murderers Apang, the Raja of Lakrang chang, the same man who narrowly escaped being killed in the first case mentioned above, and Ngyasing, another man of the same chang. The woman's story is that she formerly belonged to Lakrang chang where she was the wife of one Nakdung Naga who was killed in a fight. After his death the Raja Apang wanted to take her as his wife but she refused and fled with the deceased man Abo, first to Banfera chang and afterwards to the plains. On the 23rd March Apang Raja and Ngyasing Naga were arrested by the Military Police of Abhaypur outpost at the Balijan tea garden near the scene of the occurrence. They have been sent up for trial by the Civil Police under section 302, Indian Penal Code, and have since been committed to the Sessions. |
