17. Complaints were received that Rangpang Nagas were stealing rails belonging to the Assam Railway and Trading Company. A warning was given but the thefts continued, and so the people of the villages concerned were forbidden to enter British territory. In a quarrel between Barduaria and Barmithunia Nagas three of the former were killed. This took place outside the Inner Line, but the Mithunia Raja's conduct was not satisfactory so his annual subsidy has been withheld. |
