The following account is based mainly on my research in 1936 and 1937, but some of the information obtained in the area visited in 1962 throws additional light on aspects of Naga society only partially explored in my earlier book. Though Konyak society is rapidly changing, the villages in the Tirap district of the North East Frontier Agency still offer a fruitful field of research, and in this particular part of India it is not yet too late to increase our knowledge of some of the most archaic societies of the Asian continent. |
