whereas at a view with court held for the manor of Earls Colne on 12.4.1586 the lord personally with the court sitting at the request and requirement of Jn Creeke granted out of his hands to the said Jn Creeke one parcel of a waste field of this manor upon which one cottage is now built one head thereof abutting towards the north the other towards the south and lying in length between a wood called Chalkney Wood towards the east on one part and the king's highway leading from the said Earls Colne towards Great Tey on the other part towards the west and containing in length 13rod and in width 2rod as by a roll of the same said court it is clearly shown and appears now to this court came the aforesaid Jn Creeke and surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Jocelan steward the said parcel of waste and cottage with their appurtenances with the intention that the lord should make his grant thereof to whom the lord by his special grace granted out of his hands the said cottage and aforesaid parcel of waste with their appurtenances to the use and behoof of the said Jn Creeke and his heirs and furthermore the lord by his special grace granted out of his hands to the aforesaid Jn Creeke one other parcel of his waste containing 3rod in length and 2rod in breadth which same said 3rod lie at the boundary of the said parcel of waste above granted to the said Jn Creeke which is now enclosed and built on with one cottage by the said Jn Creeke to have for himself and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor
