his son were admitted tenants of the lord namely for themselves and their heirs from the lord by the rod etc to one garden upon which once a barn had been built and stood and now is derelict lately of
Barth Churche
lying and being in Colne St between a tenement late of
Rich Green
and a tenement late of
Jn Leffingwell
as by a roll of the said court here in this court produced and clearly shown it appears now it is shown by the homage that
Jn Greene
son of
Jn Greene
died some time ago and that
Jn Greene
the father of the said
Jn
survived him and held for himself the whole seisin by right of joint tenant in survivorship and also that the said
Jn Greene
the father after the last court and before this court died and before his death lying in extremis surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of
Jn Hunwicke
instead of the bailiff in the presence of
Jn Warde
and
Jn Pierson
two customary tenants of this manor the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor the aforesaid garden with appurtenances to the use and behoof of his last will and testament the tenor of which said testament concerning the premises in the following words namely item I give and bequeath unto
Wm Greene
my son all that my messuage or tenement with appurtenances and lands lying in Earls Colne and Gaines Colne in the tenure and occupation of
Jn Pierson
both free and copy to him and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever as by the aforesaid testament here in full court produced and shown it is clearly shown to whom the lord by his said steward granted thereof seisin to have to the same said
Wm Greene
and the heirs of his body legitimately procreated to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as is shown in the margin |
