whereas at a court here held monday being 24.9.1599 Ann Nicholson widow late wife of Geo Nicholson and Jn Nicholson their son were admitted tenants of the lord by the surrender of the aforesaid Geo Nicholson to one messuage with appurtenances called Gurneys and to certain lands meadows pastures and aldercarrs with appurtenances lying being in Henningham Sible Castle Henningham and Maplested Magna viz to the said Ann for the term of her life the remainder thereof after her decease to the aforesaid Jn Nicholson and his heirs upon the conditions and in a certain manner and form as in the last will of Geo himself it was set out as in a roll of the said court it was shown and whereas at this court it is shown by the homage of this court that the said Jn Nicholson out of court and after the last court surrendered into the hands of the lord all his remainder of and in the three parcels of land and pasture called The Harrowe lying and being in the said Great Maplested or elsewhere in the county of Essex being a parcel of the lands meadows pastures and said aldercarr to the use and behoof of Wm Harrington and his heirs now it is shown by the homage of this court that the said Jn Nicholson out of this court and after the last court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Catte instead of the bailiff in the presence of Robt Reade and Jn Parker customary tenants of the lord the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor all his remainder of and in the aforesaid messuage called Gurneys and of and in all the remainder of the said lands meadows pastures and said aldercarr except the aforesaid three parcels of land and pasture called The Harrowe to the use and behoof of Rich Heywarde and to his heirs who the same said Rich Heywarde present here in court sought for himself admittance thereof to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted thereof seisin to have to the same said Rich and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as is shown in the margin and he made fealty to the lord and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
