and furthermore whereas at a court here held 9.4.1613 Joan Evans and Constance Evans daughters (error Joan was wife and Constance daughter) of Jn Evans were admitted tenants of the lord viz Joan herself for her lifetime and the aforesaid Constance for herself and her heirs in remainder after the decease of the said Joan to one tenement with garden adjoining situated and being in Holtstreet in Earls Colne as by a roll of the aforesaid court it appears who the same said Joan some time before this court died now to this court came Simon Holden and the aforesaid Constance now his wife and Constance herself solely and secretly examined by the aforesaid steward as is the custom they surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the aforesaid steward the aforesaid tenement and garden with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Edw Somerson and Cath his wife and the heirs and assigns of the said Edw forever who present in court humbly sought admittance to the premises to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid tenement and garden with appurtenances to the aforesaid Edw and Cath and the heirs and assigns of the said Edw forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they made fine and fealty
