whereas at a court held for the said manor upon 16.1.1650 it was presented by the homage that Thos Miller since the then last court that is to say upon 1.12.1649 did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of Jn Hunwicke instead of the lord's bailiff and in the presence of Robt Abbott and Rich Fisher two customary tenants of the said manor the same witnessing one cottage with a yard parcel of Plaistowe Kilne to the use of Rich Ely and his heirs now at this court the said Rich Ely did come and humbly prayed to be admitted tenant to the same to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said cottage and yard to the said Rich Ely his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services due and accustomed and he paid his fine etc
