| Thos Wade and Sarah his wife to a cottage | at this court Jn Bowles and Kath his wife customary tenants of the said manor did come and the said Kath being by the said steward solely and secretly examined and consenting they the said Jn Bowles and Kath his wife did in open court surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of his said steward one cottage with yard and pond with the appurtenances situate at the upper end of Earls Colne green to the use of Thos Wade and Sarah his wife and of their heirs and assigns forever which premises the said Jn and Kath did take to them and their heirs at a court held for the said manor 17.2.1648 and thereupon the said Thos and Sarah did come and desired to be admitted tenants of the same to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward hath granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the same cottage yard and pond with the appurtenances to the said Thos and Sarah and to their heirs and assigns forever of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services due etc and they gave to the lord for their fine |
