Hutton widow to Boxtead | whereas a court held for the aforesaid manor 3.1.last it was shown by the homage that Hen Hutton who held for himself and his heirs by copy of court roll bearing the date 17.4.19Chas1 one cottage and garden with appurtenances called Boxted after the then last court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Adams and in the presence of Mich Hayward and Rich Hayward two customary tenants of the aforesaid manor the same testifying etc the aforesaid cottage and garden with appurtenances to the use and behoof his last will and testament and afterwards he died thus seised thereof but no one then came now to this court came Alice Hutton widow late wife of Guy Hutton deceased son of the said Hen and produced here in court the testament and last will of the said Hen in writing bearing the date 6.5.14Chas2 by which the aforesaid Hen gave and bequeathed the aforesaid cottage and garden with appurtenances to the aforesaid Alice for her lifetime if she should survive as by the aforesaid testament and last will proved 2.3.1665 before the chief archdeacon for Colchester it plainly appears and upon this the aforesaid Alice sought for herself admittance as tenant of the lord to the premises to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid premises with appurtenances to the aforesaid Alice for her lifetime if she should survive from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord for a fine |
