Dan Nightingale and Dorothy his wife | whereas at a court here held 28.12.1676 Jn Brewer was admitted for himself and his heirs to one cottage with garden adjoining with appurtenances sometime Waytes adjoining the vicarage of Earls Colne now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Jn Brewer on 21.6.1677 by the rod surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Geo Toller gentleman instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Geo Cressener gentleman and Jn Garrett two customary tenants of the aforesaid manor the aforesaid messuage and garden with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Dan Nightingale of Earls Colne aforesaid tallow chandler and Dorothy his wife for and during their natural lifetimes and to the longer liver and after their decease to the use of Mehetabel Nightingale daughter of the aforesaid Dan and Dorothy his wife and the heirs of the aforesaid Mehetabel if the aforesaid Mehetabel should still be alive at that time and if she should die beforehand then to the use of the heirs and assigns of the aforesaid Dan and Dorothy forever and upon this the aforesaid Dan and Dorothy present here in court humbly sought from the lord admittance for themselves to the premises as tenants to whom by the aforesaid steward the lord granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid messuage and garden with appurtenances to the aforesaid Dan Nightingale and Dorothy his wife for and during their natural lifetimes and to the longer liver and after their decease to their survivors as in the aforesaid surrender set down from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord for their fines etc |
