whereas at a court here held 19.3.1678 Margt wife of Thos Smyth was admitted to one croft of land or pasture called Chalkney Croft with appurtenances on which a barn now ruinous formerly stood now at this court it appeared to the homage that 19.12.last the said Thos Smyth and Margt his wife she solely and secretly examined by the steward and consenting surrendered into the lord's hands by the steward the said croft with appurtenances and all other customary messuages lands and tenements held of the aforesaid manor to the sole use of Hen Hatch junior his heirs and assigns forever who present in court asked to be admitted etc to whom the steward delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold etc to the said Hen his heirs and assigns of the lord etc and he gave the lord for fine etc and his fealty was respited
