17: Joined in a day of humiliation with Mr Lowry and others, the Lord good in giving me a Spirit to eye him and to engage with him against my corruptions, he in mercy give me power over them. Mrs. Mary went with me thither.

My wife had taken pills and they wrought very kindly and carried the wind sensibly out of her side, this night the pain returned and the toothache, which brought her as it were to deaths door, before sun, she took some tobacco, it gave her through mercy much ease, Mrs Mary rose so early to come to her, at night my wife took tobacco found much ease in it, and slept very comfortably: my son Thomas his eyes very ill:
