Aug: 3. This week past the Lord was good to me and mine in our health, peace, outward mercies, mine still preserved from the smallpox, and god will still preserve them(.) one other family in the town more is afflicted, it is very sore and heavy at Halsted, and a sad fever also at Coxall as they report, harvest is now begun, the season is very dry the lord in mercy, remember us therein as he sees good: my heart was the week past much disquieted with the heedlessness of my servant, lord make me careful not to do that myself, which I blame in another, the lord was good to me in the work and duty of the Sabbath, I moved for poor Mighill whose house was burnt down, we gathered near 3li. for him, the lord be blessed for this mercy in my people who gave them a heart to give. the lord sanctify it to him, and requite their loves into their bosoms.
