April: 18: The lord was good to me and mine in many outward mercies: my children grow better from under the scab I praise God. but I find that I for my own part rather grow worse its your will oh god, and therefore I am silent in the same, my son John ill, the lord in mercy take care of him, the season very good wherein we owned god with thankfulness(.) the lord was very good to me in his work for which my soul blesses him, I find my heart very dead, and vain, lord cure it, shut me not up under straitness. I pray thee, the lord was good to me and mine, for which I desire to bless his name and in which I desire to rejoice. about this time my navel issued often, and much, it looked very red. but through mercy it was not sore, it also dried up again of itself;
