fine 25swhereas at a court here held tuesday being the 18.9.1604 Rose Sampeforde and Rich Sampeforde her son were admitted tenants of the lord viz the said Rose for her lifetime and the said Rich in fee to one piece of land with a cottage thereon built late parcel of lands called Stacies containing by estimation 1r according as the said piece of land is enclosed by hedges and ditches and lying on the west part of the said land called Stacies and abutting upon a lane leading from a certain stile called Curds Stile into the kings highway leading towards Coggeshall now at this court it is shown by the homage that out of this court and after the last court the said Rose and Rich surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Robt Cobbe instead of the bailiff in the presence of Thos Smithe and Randolph Greene customary tenants of the lord the same testifying the aforesaid piece of land with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Robt Eelie his heirs and assigns forever who the same said Robt present in court sought admittance from the lord to the said piece of land with appurtenances to whom the lord by his steward granted seisin thereof to have to the same Robt and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as is shown in the margin and made fealty to the lord and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord and afterwards in the same open court and the court sitting came the aforesaid Robt Eelie in person and in full and open court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his said steward the aforesaid piece of land with appurtenances to the use and behoof of the aforesaid Robt Eelie and Mary his wife for the term of the natural lifetime of Robt and Mary themselves and to the longer liver the remainder thereof after their decease and the decease of the longer liver to the rightful heirs of Robt himself forever to whom the same Robt and Mary present here in court the lord by his said steward granted thereof seisin to have to the said Robt and Mary and their assigns for their lifetimes and the lifetime of the longer liver the remainder thereof as stated above to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fine as is shown in the margin and the fealty of the said Mary is respited etc and they were admitted thereof tenants of the lord etc
