to this court came Robt Pearetree and showed here in full court a certain licence of the lord and further sought for it to be enrolled in the roll of this court and it was granted to him and the tenor of this certain licence is in the following words viz be it known to all men by these presents that I Rich Harlakenden esq lord of the said manor of Earls Colne have licensed and by these presents do give liberty and licence to Robt Pearetree to demise unto and to farm let unto Edw Abbott of White Colne miller all that his customary lands and meadow called Rushefield and Rushemeadow except the tenement and yard lately builded and enclosed from the residue of the said land for the term of fourteen years to begin at the feast of michaelmas now next following after the date herewith and from henceforth to be complete and ended saving always to me and my heirs all and all manner of rents services and customs therefore due and always accustomed according to the custom of the said manor and these presents to be enrolled at the next court to be hold for the said manor and shall be his sufficient warranty given my hand and seal the 16.9.1607 Rich Harlakenden and the said Robt Peartree gave for the enrolment of the licence as is shown in the margin etc
