to this court came Rose wife of Robt Partridge and produced here in court a certain warrant under the hand and seal of the lord of the manor and sought the same warrant to be enrolled in the rolls of this court and it was granted to her the tenor of this same writing in these following words viz Earls Colne be it known to all men by these presents that I Rich Harlakenden esq lord of the said manor have licensed and by these presents do give liberty and licence to Robt Partridge and Rose his wife to fell and take before the feast of michaelmas next coming six young spirks or timber trees of oak growing or being in and upon the grove called Curdes Grove or in or upon the customary lands of the said Robt and Rose belonging to the tenement called Curdes holden of my said manor and the same to convert and enjoy to their own proper use and their pleasure and these presents to be enrolled at the next court to be holden for my said manor and shall be their sufficient warranty in this behalf given this 23.8.5Jas1 1607
