(very faded) whereas at a court here held the saturday in pentecost week being 14.6.1595 Sam Burton was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one messuage or tenement with a barn and garden adjoining the same with appurtenances called parcel of Dynes situated in the said Colne as by the said court roll here shown in this full court and produced and now at this court it is shown by the homage that out of this court and after the last court the said Sam Burton surrendered the said tenement with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Robt Cobbe instead of the bailiff in the presence of Thos Smithe and Ambrose Waller customary tenants of the lord the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor to the use and behoof of the same said Sam Burton and his assigns for and during the whole term of the natural lifetime of Sam himself and after his decease to the use and behoof of Jn Burton his son and Sarah the wife of Jn himself and the heirs of the bodies of the said Jn and Sarah legitimately procreated upon which now to this court came the said Sam Burton by Thos Cockerell as his deputy and attorney and the said Jn Burton in person and sought for himself and the aforesaid Sarah admittance thereof according to the tenor of the said surrender to whom the lord by his said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof to have to the same Sam and his assigns for the whole term of the lifetime of Sam himself and after his decease to have to the same Jn and Sarah and the heirs of their bodies legitimately procreated to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fine as is shown in the margin     and the said Jn Burton made fealty to the lord and they were admitted thereof tenants of the lord in the said form
