whereas at a court here held monday being 20.10.1578 Geo Cressener was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and the heirs of his body legitimately procreated the remainder thereof as shown in the said court to one croft of land now divided into two parts containing by estimation 8a of land with appurtenances parcel of the demesne land of this manor lying in the field called Lowefield under Chiffin adjoining the herd house to the conduit and three crofts of land called Bromedcroft lying in Earls Colne parcel of the demesne lands of this manor as by a roll of that court here in this same court fully produced and shown now at this court it is shown by the homage in this court that the said Geo Cressener after the last court died of such estates and premises solely seised and that Edw Cressener is his son and the heir of the body of the said Geo deceased legitimately procreated and he should have the right to the premises who the same said Edw came to this court and sought for himself admittance thereof as his right and inheritance and because it was thus shown by the homage therefore the lord by his said steward granted to him seisin thereof to have to the same Edw and the heirs of his body legitimately procreated the remainder thereof to them as in the court roll to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine etc and made fealty to the lord and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
