item it is shown by the homage that Esdras Wade customary tenant of this same manor after the last court died seised of one cottage and garden situated and lying in Crossgate St leading from Earls Colne towards Coggeshall alongside the land of Rich Parker called Gosses containing in length along the said road 53ft and in breadth 20ft to which said premises the aforesaid Esdras was admitted to hold for himself and his heirs from the lord by the rod etc at a court with view here held illegible text being 5.1.=Eliz1 here in the said court produced and clearly shown and that Jn Wade is his eldest son and next heir and is of full age viz 21yrs and more who the same said Jn came to this court in person and humbly sought of the lord admittance to the said premises whereof the lord of the manor by his said steward granted thereof seisin to have and to hold the said cottage with appurtenances to the same said Jn Wade his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the annual rent of 12d and other services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
