whereas at a court here held 23.4.1622 it was shown by the homage of that court that Robt Elye and Mary his wife before that court and out of court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Reade instead of the bailiff in the presence of Wm Adams clerk and Dan Lea two customary tenants the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor one cottage with appurtenances called or recognised by the name of Stacyes then in the tenure or occupation of the said Robt or his assigns to the use and behoof of Dan Aymes and his heirs forever as by a roll of the said court clearly shown and certain now to this court came the aforesaid Dan Aymes in person and sought admittance to the said cottage with appurtenances according to the form and intention of the abovementioned surrender to whom the same said Dan the lord by his said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have to himself and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he paid therefore a fine to the lord and fealty and was admitted thereof tenant etc and afterward to this court sitting came the aforesaid Mary wife of the said Robt Elye in person and she herself first examined by the said steward as is the custom solely and secretly and acknowledged and well avowed the said surrender by the aforesaid Robt Elye and herself to have been made as stated above and remitted released everything claimed in peace by herself and her heirs forever to the aforesaid Dan Aymes in his full possession and existing seisin and to his heirs all her right estate title claim and demand whatsoever of and in the said premises etc
