whereas at a court here held tuesday being 18.4.1620 Hen Bridge and Edith his wife Edith herself first solely and secretly examined by the lords steward as is the custom and acknowledged surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his then steward one cottage or customary tenement called Brayes with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Eliz Allen wife of Rich Allen and the heirs and assigns of Eliz herself forever as by a roll of the said court is clearly shown now to this court came the aforesaid Eliz in person and humbly sought admittance to the said cottage or tenement with appurtenances according to the tenor and intention of the said surrender to whom the same said Eliz at her petition the lord by his steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have to herself and her heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed upon this condition however that the aforesaid Eliz her heirs executors or administrators should pay or cause to be paid to Rich Harlakenden esq lord of the said manor his executors or assigns the sum of 20s in payment of the remaining fines and she paid to the lord part of the fine and fealty and was admitted upon the said condition of the lord
