it is shown above by the homage that Thos Turner out of court namely 2.3.1626 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Parker bailiff in the presence of Edw Cressener and Robt Crowe two customary tenants the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor one building a slaughter house one barn and one yard with appurtenances now in the occupation of the said Thos Turner to the use and behoof of Wm Brand and his heirs provided always and on this condition that if the aforesaid Thos Turner his heirs executors administrators or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Wm Brand his heirs or assigns the sum of 11li in or at the dwelling house of Rich Harlakenden esq commonly called Colne Priory situated in the said Earls Colne in or upon the feast day of st john baptist next following after the date of this surrender without deceit or further delay that then this present surrender should be void etc otherwise it should stand in full force
