it is shown by the homage that Hen Makin out of court viz 20.2.1626 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Reade instead of the bailiff in the presence of Robt Crowe and Robt Polley two customary tenants the same witnessing according to the custom of the said manor one tenement and yard with appurtenances pertaining to the same called The Wine Tavern now in the occupation of Jn Pennocke to the use and behoof of Jn Pennocke and his heirs upon condition however if the said Hen Makin his heirs executors administrators or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Jn Pennock his heirs or assigns the sum of 15li in or at the now dwelling house of the said Jn Pennocke situated in Earls Colne in or upon 21.2.1627 without deceit or further delay that then this present surrender should be void etc otherwise it should stand in full force
