for fine illegible text 12li#whereas at a view of frankpledge with court baron here held 10.12.7Jas1 (sic) Thos Prior and Agnes his wife were admitted tenants to themselves and to the heirs of the said Agnes to one croft or pasture then enclosed containing about 8a of land and to one croft or close of arable land containing about 4a of land and to one meadow containing about 2a parcel of certain lands and meadow called Bridgemans lying in Earls Colne according as it clearly shows by the said court roll here in this document now at this court it is shown by the homage that the said Agnes after the said court and before this court died seised and that the said Thos Prior survived her and is living and that Thos Prior junior is son and next heir of the said Agnes whereupon the said Thos Prior junior came into court and humbly sought admittance to the remainder of the croft and the other premises with appurtenances to whom the lord by his said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have the said remainder of the said croft and other premises with appurtenances to Thos Prior junior and his heirs forever and to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted tenant thereunto and afterwards in the same court and the court sitting came the said Thos Prior senior and the said Thos Prior junior and in full and open court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his steward all and singular the said premises and all rights estates and interests of and in the premises by name all that customary land with appurtenances called Bridgemans one head abutting against the land called Stoneleys and also Newmans to the east and another head abutting the land of Jas Nicoll called Swanells to the south and another head abutting the kings highway leading from Earls Colne to Colne Engaine to the west and the other head abutting the great river to the north containing about 13a and now in the tenure and occupation of Robt Davy of Earls Colne butcher or his assigns to the use and behoof of Robt Seawell junior son of Robt Seawell of Pebmarsh yeoman and his heirs forever whereupon the said Robt Seawell junior came into court and humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by his said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have to him and his heirs forever and to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine but because the said Robt is under age viz 12yrs or thereabouts therefore his fealty was respited and custody of the said land was granted and delivered by the rod through the steward of the said court to Robt Seawell father of the said Robt until the said Robt Seawell junior reaches the full age of twenty-one years when he will return to the said Robt junior the lands and property and other estates and render to him at his full age a faithful reckoning of the profits of the lands and said holdings and as such a guardian the said Robt Seawell senior gave to the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted thereunto as guardian and tenant
