and furthermore at this court it is shown by the homage that Jane Clench customary tenant of the said manor after the last court and before this court viz 12.4.1637 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Nath Browne instead of the bailiff in the presence of Edw Cressner senior and Ambrose Waller two customary tenants of the said manor according to the customs of the said manor one customary cottage and about 9a of customary land called Chewneyland to the use and behoof of Edw Clarke and Wm Brand their heirs and assigns forever upon the condition however and with this intention that the said Edw Clarke and Wm Brand and their heirs and assigns permit Rich Harlakenden esq lord of the said manor and his heirs freely to receive and take the rents and profits of the said cottage and premises and that the said Edw and Wm and their heirs make such surrenders and legal assurances about such premises and such a person or persons of whatever kind the said Rich Harlakenden or his heirs nominate or delimit whereupon here into court came the said Edw Clarke and Wm Brand and humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said cottage and other premises with appurtenances to themselves and their heirs upon the said conditions and intentions from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and the fine was pardoned and thus they were admitted tenants
