and furthermore it is shown by the homage of the court that Sam Game customary tenant of the said manor after the last court viz 11.2.1648 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jas Game instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Edw Browne and Wm Adams two customary tenants of the said manor testifying three parcels of customary land called Bettons Land lying between a certain dale or church path leading from the mansion house of the said Sam Game towards a chaseway on the western part and abutting the land of Wm Meadow called Dedmans on the eastern part and upon a certain chaseway leading from the said mansion house towards Chalkney Wood on the northern part and upon a certain parcel of land previously surrendered to the use of Grace Game on the southern part and upon Bettensland Wood late in the tenure of Thos Harlakenden gentleman on the southern part containing in all about 9a of land and now in the tenure of Sam Game junior and lying in Earls Colne to the use and behoof of the said Sam Game senior for his lifetime and after his decease to the use and behoof of the said Sam Game junior for his lifetime and after his decease to the use and behoof of Jane Game wife of the said Sam Game junior during her widowhood the remainder thereof to the use and behoof of Jas Game son of the said Sam and Jane and the heirs and assigns of the said Jas forever and it is agreed by the consent of the lord that the said Sam and Jane his wife and the said Jas and his heirs should pay for the premises to the lord of the said manor 5s6d per annum when the premises come into their possession
