whereas at a court held for the said manor 3.11.1657 it was presented by the homage that Edw Brown a customary tenant of the said manor did since the last court that is to say upon 29.9.1657 surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of Wm Roote in place of the bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams the elder and Barth Clerke two customary tenants of the said manor the same witnessing one pightle of land called Wards with a cottage thereupon built lying between the garden late of Jn Booner on the west and a garden late of Jn Tilwicke east and south and upon the common street north to the use of Rich Harvy of Castle Heddingham husbandman and of his heirs and assigns forever now at this court the said Rich Harvey did come and desired to be admitted tenant to the same to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said pightle and cottage with the appurtenances to the said Rich Harvey his heirs and assigns forever of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs due and he gave to the lord for his fine and did his fealty
