Brownes at this court it is shown by the homage that Wm Bridge who held for himself and his heirs by copy of court roll bearing date 6.1.1654 one messuage with appurtenances late Wm Davisons and afterwards of Rich Browne and garden adjoining with a certain way to carry and recarry from the said garden to the lane called Bearecroft Lane with appurtenances after the last court viz 2.1.1662 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Rich Hatch senior instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams and Giles Crowe two customary tenants of the said manor the same testifying the said messuage garden and other premises with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Rich Hatch junior of Earls Colne butcher his heirs and assigns forever who present in court humbly sought admittance as tenant of the premises to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage garden and way with appurtenances to the said Rich Hatch junior his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine
